With the recent start of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, Geneva, physicists expect new fundamental insights into the basic structure of matter and the very early development of our universe.

The current understanding of the physics of the smallest particles and the methods and theoretical concepts applied also raises questions in the historical and philosophical context.

Within the scope of the „Epistemology of the LHC“ research group at the University of Wuppertal, a spring school with the topic “Particle Physics and Philosophy“ will take place from March 16th to March 25th 2011.

This school brings together young academics and outstanding international scholars from physics, philosophy and history of science.

Applications will be accepted until December 15, 2010
